Remove Your Background

I know, I know. You love that picture of your dog as your background. My advice is to remove it and just go with a solid color background. While this won't speed up your computer a whole lot, every little bit helps. If you don't want to remove the background, it won't hurt anything to leave it up there. I'm simply of the opinion that you don't see your background very often anyhow (if you're working in Word or on the web or something), so why keep it if it's slowing you down?

To remove it, simply right-click anywhere on your background (but not on any icon) and choose [properties] from the menu that pops up. You'll get a screen like this:

Now simply scroll the choices up to the very top and choose [None] as your wallpaper. You can also choose what color you'd like your background to be by using the color chooser in the bottom right corner of the window.
